In una parola, ? sorprendente: un film di fantascienza perfttamente ucronico presentato come documentario. Questo format, per altro, ? un enorme valore aggiunto: ricalcando gli eventi storici della Prima Guerra Mondiale, non c?? possibilit? di errore ? se non la piccola imprecisione di non includere nella narrazione le potenze dell?Est, una scelta dovuta sia ai tempi (non era pensabile di mantenere su questo tenore un film di tre ore), sia al fatto che ? evidente non si ritenga importante il contributo russo nella Prima Guerra Mondiale (una scelta che vale al film una stellina in meno).
Ho trovato particolarmente impressionante il comparto fotografico, che alterna filmati di archivio a altri ritoccati per introdurre i ?marziani?, e a scene a colori (ambientate ai giorni nostri) per quanto riguarda i protagonisti della parte moderna del documentario.
Interessante l?intreccio e ottime le domande che lascia in sospeso ? necessarie in un film di fantascienza che non voglia essere solo un alieni vs terrestri.
