Synopsis: This upload is about the Music of Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra, the doyens of the Benares Gharana. In this DVD we start with some compliments about their music from such maestros as Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Zakir Husain, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma and others. We then get a glimpse of a Master Class in which the two maestros explain the nuances of the music of the Benares Gharana to their two sons and disciples. The third section brings to us some rare compositions from the Benares Gharana and finally, we get a musical soiree of evening Ragas, in which Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra first sing Yaman Kalyan and go on to sing Jayjaywanti and two Thunris reminiscent of the Benares Gharana. Comments: This upload is for lovers of Hindustani Classical Music. Not only are we treated to an over two hours musical experience from the two maestros, but we also get to hear and learn about their music from the maestros themselves. There is a brilliant rendition of how the Benares Gharana blends all forms of music like tappas, Kajris, folk music to create a musical style of it own. Overall a rip to preserve and enjoy over and over again. Uploader's Notes: This is a quality DVD with some beautifully recorded pieces from the repertoire of Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra. It's further accentuated by some imaginative and evocative cinematography by Tribhuvan Sadineni. The CVD itself was over saturated and sometimes the brightness hurt the eye. We have toned the colours down a bit and made it more watch-able. The use of 10-bits X265 encoding allowed us to compress the video to just 500 MB with no loss in picture quality. This is despite keeping the original AC3 sound track. However, we wish to emphasize that our concentration in this rip is to preserve the audio quality rather than improve the visuals. When I was playing back the rip I noticed that the slider of VLC was not moving automatically as the clip played. It moves without difficulty when manually shifted, however, so the problem is very minor and probably local. I am mentioning it just in case someone notices and is worried about it. If you love Indian Classical Music, you will love this upload. Be aware that this rip (and all HEVC rips) will not play on any stand-alone device. You can only watch this on a computer.
