Rok 1942 jest to okres najwiÄ™kszej aktywności niemieckiej floty w czasie II wojny światowej, a w szczegolności Kriegsmarine w tzw. "Bitwie o Atlantyk". Niemieckie okrÄ™ty podwodne atakowały i niszczyły konwoje statków aliantów na szlakach atlantyckich. W niedługim jednak czasie "polowania" U-Bootów wspierane osłoną niemieckich niszczycieli coraz czÄ™ściej kończyły siÄ™ niepowodzeniem.

Film "OkrÄ™t" opowiada historiÄ™ jednego z U-Bootów i jego załogi. Tygodnie spÄ™dzone pod wodą, w strachu, klaustrofobii, w monotonii rejsu, w walce i zagrożeniu. Epopeja Petersena w szczególny sposób pokazuje ludzi, marynarzy, ich charaktery i osobowości w obliczu niebezpiecznej misji, kiedy wiedzą, że tylko niektórzy z nich powrócą.
