Patrick Jane è consulente al California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), dove aiuta la squadra investigativa coordinata da Teresa Lisbon e formata da Kimball Cho, Wayne Rigsby e Grace Van Pelt usando il suo particolare talento di mentalista.
