Another of Trojan's wonderful 3 CD box sets - this one differs from the others as there are only 35 tracks, as opposed to the normal 50 (I have read somewhere that one set has a hidden 51st track, but I can't confirm that). But what a track selection! All are extended versions - although how many were actually 12" singles could be debated - It was normal practice in Jamaica for the 7" single to have a dub version on the B side, and a large number of the tracks herein have the A and B side mixed together, but who cares! - This is a wonderfully enjoyable, danceable set - and I can't dance to save my life! To a casual reggae listener there are a few recognisable tracks - Susan Cadogan's Hurt so good and Dennis Brown's Money in my pocket were both UK hits. Other tracks will be known to anybody who has purchased a few Trojan sets, but whether you know the tracks or not is immaterial - this is great music, and wonderful fun. If you are looking for a set of chart hits, go for the UK hits set, or young gifted and black. If you want to dip your toe in the water a bit further, but still want some commercial tunes, go for this - you won't be disappointed !
