Song number one is a massive, nonstopping steamtrain rolling over you. It oddly progresses eventhough it only has basically one riff which travels through terra incognito. Number two gives the shivers and is as beautiful as the first snow, or the last if you will! Third song is rough and progressively hypnotic at some points, and has a promising and heartwarming ending. Depth's Beyond One's is a four piece prog metal group from Oulu, Finland. The band began its formation in early 2003, when Jarru Kanniainen and Jani Kuorikoski, two musicians, met through a mutual friend. They soon added Juho Rikberg to the band, creating a trio. Shortly after the group formed, they scored a gig playing to entertain the Finnish army; the gig was a success, although the band broke up shortly after and the project was put aside. Soon after, the members contacted each other again and re-commenced practice. Towards late 2005, and after much practice and writing, Jaru and Jani recorded several pieces of instrumental music, composed only of bass and drums, and heavily rhythmic based. In 2006, the band recruited a guitarist which they found through an online forum; Mikko Logrén joined the band shortly after making contact. In 2006, the band released their first recording, 'Soledad In The Gale'. The vocals were recorded by Antti Karhu, a member of Jarru's former band. In 2007, the central trio of the band began recording a new record, 'Ebb', which is generously available for free download from their official homepage. The band toured locally around Finland, building a bigger fan base. They then released their first full size album, 'Red Lines Entwined', in 2009. This is a concept album, and has also helped build the band's fanbase up. The band has a very unique combination of heavily rhythmic based metal, with chaotic highs and squealing guitar noise. Amongst this heaviness, occasional beatiful acoustically based sections and PA break up the chaos, creating a lovely blend of heaviness and softness. A good place to start with the band is their 2007 EP 'Ebb', as it is a good representation of their overall sound and is available free of charge.
