Un giorno, nessuno muore. In tutto il mondo, nessuno muore. E poi il successivo, e il successivo, e il successivo, la gente continuava a invecchiare - si fanno male e si ammalano, ma non muoiono mai. Il risultato: un boom della popolazione, durante la notte.
Con tutta quella gente extra, le risorse stanno per finire. Si dice che in un tempo di quattro mesi ,la razza umana cesserà di esistere. Ma non può essere un evento naturale - c'è qualcuno dietro. E' una corsa contro il tempo mentre l'agente CIA Rex Matheson investiga una cospirazione globale. Le risposte si celano all'interno di un vecchio segreto istituto britannico. E mentre Rex si continua a chiedere "Cos'è torchwood", è portato in un mondo di avventure, e una minaccia di cambiare cosa vuol dire essere umani... per sempre.
