The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (ゼルダの伝説: ムジュラの仮面, Zeruda no Densetsu: Mujura no Kamen?, "La leggenda di Zelda: la maschera di Majora") è il secondo episodio della saga di Zelda sul Nintendo 64 (il primo fu The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time). Fu pubblicato in Giappone il 27 aprile 2000, in America settentrionale il 26 ottobre 2000, e in Europa il 17 novembre 2000. Il gioco ha venduto approssimativamente 314000 copie nella prima settimana in Giappone, e ha venduto 3 milioni di copie in tutto il mondo. Inoltre dal 3 aprile 2009 il gioco è disponibile in Europa sulla Virtual console per Wii.
Majora's Mask è il sesto episodio della saga di Zelda, e il secondo con grafica 3D. In questa avventura, il protagonista della saga, Link, si ritrova nel mondo di Termina (e non più a Hyrule), dove un misterioso personaggio con un maschera, di nome Skull Kid, sta facendo uscire la luna dalla sua orbita per farla schiantare contro Termina. Link deve vivere ripetutamente 3 giorni attraverso dei viaggi nel tempo per evitare la catastrofe. Majora's Mask è considerato il più cupo tra gli episodi di Zelda, anche perché nel gioco è presente una imminente apocalisse.
Il gioco è incentrato sul continuo ripetersi dei tre giorni e sull'uso delle maschere, alcune delle quali sono necessarie per lo sviluppo del gioco. Una serie di melodie controllano il flusso del tempo e consentono l'accesso ai quattro Templi che Link deve conquistare. Al contrario di Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask necessita dell'Expansion Pak (una periferica del Nintendo64), che permette di visualizzare un maggior numero di personaggi sullo schermo e di avere una grafica migliore.

Il nostro protagonista, Link, dopo avere sconfitto Ganondorf (vedi Ocarina of Time) ed essere tornato bambino, decide di andare alla ricerca della fata che lo aveva accompagnato nella precedente avventura a Hyrule, Navi. Mentre attraversa i Lost Woods (il bosco di Hyrule) in groppa alla cavalla Epona, viene attaccato da uno Skull Kid (coperto in volto da una maschera) accompagnato da due fatine. Lo Skull Kid gli sottrae la cavalla e l'Ocarina del Tempo. Mentre rincorre lo Skull Kid, Link cade in una dimensione parallela e si ritrova in nuovo mondo, chiamato Termina. Qui lo Skull Kid trasforma Link in un Deku Scrub; involontariamente, una delle fatine (Tatl) rimane con Link, e si allea (anche se svogliatamente) con lui per ritrovare suo fratello (l'altra fatina, Tael)e lo Skull Kid; subito dopo Link incontra il Venditore di maschere (già visto nel precedente gioco), che gli promette di farlo tornare umano in cambio dell'Ocarina del Tempo e della maschera che indossa lo Skull Kid detta Majora's Mask, che contiene un potere così grande da distruggere tutto il mondo di Termina. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (ゼルダの伝説ムジュラの仮面, Zeruda no Densetsu Mujura no Kamen?) is an action-adventure video game developed by Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development division for the Nintendo 64. It was released in Japan on April 27, 2000, North America on October 26, 2000, and Europe on November 17, 2000. The game sold approximately 314,000 copies during its first week in Japan, and has sold three million copies worldwide. The game was rereleased for the Nintendo GameCube as part of The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition, and the Wii's Virtual Console service in the PAL region on April 3, 2009, Japan on April 7, 2009, and North America on May 18, 2009.
Majora's Mask is the sixth installment in The Legend of Zelda series and the second using 3D graphics, the first being The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the game's predecessor. The game is set in Termina, an alternate version of the usual series setting of Hyrule, where the Skull Kid has stolen Majora's Mask, a powerful ancient artifact. Under its influence, the Skull Kid causes the land's moon to slowly fall towards Termina, where it crashes after three days. The main protagonist Link repeatedly travels back in time to the beginning of the three days to find a way to stop the moon from destroying Termina.
The gameplay is centered on the perpetually repeating three-day cycle and the use of various masks, some of which allow Link to transform into different beings. Link learns to play several melodies on his ocarina, which have a variety of effects like controlling the flow of time or opening passages to four temples, which house challenges Link must overcome. Unlike Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask requires the Expansion Pak, which provides additional memory for enhanced graphics and more on-screen characters. Majora's Mask was well received by critics, who praised the graphics and deep story.

Majora's Mask takes place several months after Ocarina of Time and begins with Link searching for an unnamed friend in the woods on his horse, Epona. The masked Skull Kid and his fairy friends, Tatl and Tael, steal Epona and the powerful musical instrument, the Ocarina of Time, from Link. Link follows them into a dark cave, where he falls down a deep hole. At the bottom, the Skull Kid turns him into a Deku Scrub and runs away with Tael, abandoning Tatl. Upset over the betrayal, Tatl agrees to help Link return to normal.
Link follows the Skull Kid through the cave to Clock Tower in Termina. There he meets the Happy Mask Salesman, who says he can help Link if he retrieves the Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask from the Skull Kid. Link and Tatl exit the Clock Tower in the center of Clock Town, which is preparing for the Carnival of Time. Link learns that the moon of the alternate world that this land resides in will crash into Termina in three days.

Sixième opus de la série des The Legend of Zelda, Majora's Mask fait directement suite à The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time sorti en 1998. Il reprend un gameplay et des graphismes similaires à son prédécesseur mais présente une atmosphère plus oppressante et onirique. Le jeu propose un gameplay basé sur un continuel retour dans le temps pour fuir une catastrophe qui serait fatale à l'humanité, et sur l'utilisation de masques magiques qui confèrent des pouvoirs spéciaux à leurs porteurs.
Le jeu est l'un des rares sur la console à requérir l'utilisation de l'Expansion Pak, un accessoire vendu séparément permettant d'augmenter la taille de la mémoire de la console. Majora's Mask rencontre un bon accueil et se vend à 3.3 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde. Le jeu est réédité sur GameCube en 2003, notamment en bonus à l'édition spéciale du pack Gamecube Mariokart, puis sur la console virtuelle de la Wii en 2009.

L'histoire se situe directement à la suite de celle de Ocarina of Time. Après une longue et périlleuse bataille contre l'infâme Ganondorf, Link décide de se lancer dans une quête personnelle, au bout de laquelle il trouvera "un véritable ami" - Ce concept d'amitié reviendra sans cesse au cours du jeu, et sera d'ailleurs la clef qui permettra à Link d'obtenir le masque ultime auprès des enfants masqués autour de l'arbre lunaire (ces enfants sont très curieux, et se demandent ce que signifie le sens du mot "amitié"). Alors qu'il parcourt la forêt avec sa jument Epona, il est attaqué par SkullKid, un enfant de la forêt, qui porte un étrange masque. Aidé par deux fées, Taya et son frère Tael, celui-ci subtilise l'Ocarina du Temps de Link ainsi que sa jument, Epona. Link décide de se lancer à sa poursuite et se retrouve dans un pays inconnu nommé Termina. Malheureusement, Skull Kid a lancé une malédiction sur Link et le monde. Link est devenu une peste Mojo, et une gigantesque lune au visage effrayant menace de s'écraser sur Termina dans 3 jours.

Es wurde am 17. November 2000 als sechster Teil der The-Legend-of-Zelda-Reihe veröffentlicht und ist der zweite Titel in dieser Serie, der auf der Nintendo-64-Plattform erschien. Der Titel fand weltweit 3,36 Millionen Käufer.
2003 erschien Majora's Mask zusammen mit Ocarina of Time, The Adventure of Link und The Legend of Zelda auf einer limitierten Collector's Edition für die Nachfolge-Konsole Nintendo Gamecube. 2009 wurde es als Virtual-Console-Spiel für die Konsole Wii veröffentlicht. Protagonist ist der junge Link, der in einer dreitägigen Zeitschleife das Herabstürzen des Mondes auf eine Stadt verhindern und hierfür vier bewachte Tempel meistern sowie verschiedenen Figuren aus ihren individuellen Nöten helfen muss.

Die Intro-Sequenz des Spiels gibt die Geschehnisse des vorhergehenden Zelda-Titels Ocarina of Time wieder und setzt mit der Handlung daran an.
Auf der Suche nach seiner Fee aus Ocarina Of Time, Navi, ist Link mit seiner Stute Epona tief in die verlorenen Wälder geritten. Er wird vom Horror Kid, einem kindlichen Kobold, der seinerseits Link bereits aus Hyrule kennt, überfallen und seiner Okarina beraubt. Das Horror Kid trägt Majoras Maske, ein beseeltes, böswilliges Objekt, welches die Handlungen seines Trägers beeinflusst. Bei der Verfolgung des Diebs gerät Link in eine Welt namens Termina. Das Horror Kid verwandelt ihn in ein kleines Deku-Kind, ein humanoides Pflanzenwesen. Link findet sich kurze Zeit später innerhalb eines Uhrturms in Unruhstadt wieder, einer zentral in Termina gelegenen Ortschaft. Hier trifft er auf einen reisenden Maskenhändler, der sich als eigentlicher Besitzer von Majoras Maske zu erkennen gibt und Link anbietet, ihm im Tausch gegen seine gestohlene Maske in seine ursprüngliche Gestalt zu verhelfen. Der Maskenhändler gewährt für diese Aufgabe einen Zeitraum von drei Tagen.
Im weiteren Verlauf stellt sich heraus, dass das Horror Kid den Mond auf einen Kollisionskurs mit Unruhstadt beschwört und dass der Einschlag mit dem Ablaufen der vom Maskenhändler vorgegebenen Frist zusammenfällt.
